Brian Bowers is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Professor Chris Popdan. He is the professor of The Hangout Jiu-Jitsu Club in Indianapolis, Indiana, and a coach at the Franklin, Indiana, Jiu-Jitsu Club.
Brian is a federal law enforcement officer and a physical tactics and firearms instructor for his agency. He served a significant portion of his career as a firearms, physical tactics, and search and seizure instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, specializing in the full spectrum of use-of-force encounters. Brian has trained law enforcement officers throughout the United States and internationally.
Having personally relied on jiu-jitsu techniques to protect his life, Brian advocates jiu-jitsu as essential knowledge for all law enforcement personnel. His dedication to this cause is evident in his role as the Lead Instructor for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association 111 Project, a non-profit organization that protects law enforcement personnel through support, education, training, and information sharing.
Brian leads jiu-jitsu seminars for law enforcement and jiu-jitsu practitioners, but his commitment to his students goes beyond the mat. With a Master of Science in Business Management and two decades of teaching experience, he leverages his education and experience to educate jiu-jitsu practitioners and law enforcement officers by sharing technical skills and cutting-edge research from psychology, neuroscience, social science, and health science to enhance their skills, safety, and deepen their understanding of the benefits of jiu-jitsu training.
His dedication to serving their needs is evident in his use of research from psychology and neuroscience to optimize learning in any discipline he teaches. Brian is a writer for the FLEOA 111 Project and uses science-based principles to educate jiu-jitsu practitioners, law enforcement students, law enforcement instructors, and jiu-jitsu instructors.
In addition to being a firearms and physical tactics instructor, Brian is a Certified Strength Coach with the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF) and a member of the United States Registry of Exercise Professionals (USREPS).

Felecia “Rooster” Bain is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt. She is a federal law enforcement officer and law enforcement instructor, serving as the lead safety instructor and a non-lethal training ammunition instructor for her Indianapolis-based agency. Felecia is also an adjunct instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Her passion for officer safety is evident in her role as Vice President for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association 111 Project, a non-profit organization that protects law enforcement personnel through support, education, training, and information sharing.
As a jiu-jitsu instructor, Felecia leads a women's program at the Franklin, Indiana, Jiu-Jitsu Club and coaches at the Hangout Jiu-Jitsu Club, which provides training primarily to law enforcement officers. Felecia is a subject matter expert in all aspects of self-defense, such as target hardening, avoidance, situational awareness, de-escalation, fighting back, post-altercation actions, and legal considerations. She regularly conducts women's self-defense seminars, and all event proceeds are donated to local women's domestic violence charities.
Felecia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and a Master's of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. Her approachable and practical instruction appeals to many students, especially women of all ages, law enforcement, and victims of domestic abuse.
